Some simple steps you can take to get involved in Volunteering

  • Decide on the social or environmental issues that are important to you.
  • Think about your skills and the things you enjoy doing.
  • Consider the time you have available.
  • Decide on the location of your volunteer activity and whether you want to volunteer with friends.

How to get involved?

Are you interested in volunteering but don’t know where to start? Volunteer Link can assist you to find the volunteer position that is right for you! There are several options:

Search for volunteer positions on our website:

  1. Put your information into the search box on the right hand side of the screen titled ‘Want to Help? Become a Volunteer’.
  2. Search for a volunteer position that suits your interests.
  3. Once you have found a position, you can apply by pressing the express interest button.
  4. Once you fill in your details in the online form and hit submit your details will be sent to the organisation.
  5. You will then get an email with the organisation’s contact details.
  6. If you haven’t heard from the organisation within a week, give them a quick call to discuss the volunteering position.

Have an interview with a Referral Officer at Volunteer Link:

  1. Call Volunteer Link on 8558 4000 and arrange an interview time to come in and see one of our Referral Officers.
  2. During your interview the Referral Officer will assist you to identify and apply for a suitable volunteering opportunity.
  3. Meet with the organisation concerned to discuss the volunteering position.

Unfortunately some organisations’ insurance won’t be able to cover volunteers under 18, but never fear! Our Youth, Get Involved page has all the information you need to help get you started.
